Design Architecture

The JFBB flanged bearing utilizes a controlled graphite distribution network within a phosphor bronze matrix. Graphite plugs are inserted at 45 degree intervals across both the cylindrical sliding surface and the radial flange face. This dual surface lubrication system ensures continuous oil free operation under combined radial and axial loading. The flange is integrally cast with the bearing body, eliminating press fit interface issues common with separate thrust washers. Metric dimensions follow ISO 3547-2 with standard tolerances of inner diameter H8 and outer diameter h8. Flange perpendicularity is maintained within 0.04 mm across the entire diameter range.

Shaft Compatibility
Hardened steel shaft 45 to 55 HRC with Ra 0.2 to 0.5 micrometers. Avoid chrome plated or stainless shafts due to galling potential with graphite lubricant.
Housing Requirements
ISO H7 tolerance for press fit applications. Counterbore depth tolerance ±0.05 mm. Lead in chamfer of 1.5 mm at 20 degrees required.
Lubricant Life Cycle
Graphite inserts provide lubrication for 8000 to 12000 sliding kilometers under rated loads. Replace bushing when friction coefficient exceeds 0.20.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the JFBB bearing be used in underwater applications
Yes. The graphite lubricant is inert and does not wash away in fresh or salt water. Maximum submerged speed limited to 0.2 m/s to prevent water ingression into the bronze matrix pores.
What is the recommended installation press force
Press force ranges from 5 kN for 8mm ID bearings to 45 kN for 50mm ID bearings. Calculate based on housing bore interference of 0.025mm to 0.050mm for standard H7 tolerance fits.
Does the flange require additional thrust washers
No. The integral flange face contains graphite inserts specifically positioned to handle axial thrust loads up to 35 N/mm². Additional thrust washers are not required for normal operating conditions.
How to identify worn JFBB bearings
Wear indicators include increased operational noise, radial play exceeding 0.15 mm when measured at ID, or visible graphite depletion where less than 15 percent of lubricant area remains on the sliding surface.

Installation Guidelines

Step A
Verify housing counterbore depth. Insert a depth micrometer to measure from housing face to counterbore shoulder. Depth must equal flange thickness plus 0.05mm to 0.10mm clearance.
Step B
Deburr all housing edges. Use a fine file or deburring tool on bore entry, counterbore corner, and flange seating face. Remove all metal chips before pressing.
Step C
Apply light assembly oil to the housing bore only. Do not apply oil to the bushing outer diameter. Use a press tool that contacts the entire flange perimeter evenly.
Step D
Press at constant speed of 5 to 10 mm per second. Stop immediately when flange contacts housing counterbore. Do not hammer or impact press.
Never weld or machine the bearing after installation. Heat above 250°C degrades lubricant properties. Post installation machining damages the graphite insert pattern.
